BarnMate is a mobile app for planning and sharing horse care between co-riders, owners and half-lease partners. This page explains what data BarnMate collects, how it is stored and what your rights are.
BarnMate does not collect, sell or transmit your personal data to any server we operate. Your data lives on your device and in your own private iCloud account.
1 · Who we are
App publisher: BarnMate
Contact: contact@barnmate.app
For any regulatory question related to the App Store, this address is the appropriate point of contact.
2 · Data collected
None, directly.
BarnMate does not operate any server. No analytics or crash-reporting SDK, no advertising identifier, no fingerprinting, no behavioral tracking of any kind.
All the data you enter in the app (horses, sessions, supplements, riders, care, photos, billing records) is stored:
- 01Locally on your device, via Apple's Core Data framework.
- 02Synced through your own private iCloud account, with Apple's CloudKit framework, automatically and at no cost to you.
We never see this data. Apple never gives us access to it.
3 · CloudKit Sharing (sponsored access)
If you choose to share a group with a co-rider or an owner via the app's Invite feature, BarnMate uses Apple's CloudKit Sharing.
Invitations are tied to the recipient's Apple ID.
Shared data is exchanged directly between your iCloud account and the guest's, via Apple's infrastructure.
BarnMate has no visibility into the content of the share.
You can revoke access at any time from the share-management screen in the app, which removes the invitation server-side via Apple.
4 · In-app purchases
Subscriptions and lifetime purchases (Solo and Share plans, monthly / annual / lifetime) are handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit framework.
Apple manages your payment, billing and receipt validation.
BarnMate only receives a non-identifying flag indicating whether your Apple ID currently holds an entitlement to one of our products.
We see neither your name, nor your email, nor your payment method, nor your transaction history.
5 · Notifications
If you grant notification permission, BarnMate schedules local notifications (farrier reminders, vaccine reminders, etc.) directly on your device, via the standard iOS notifications framework.
No push notification is sent from a remote server.
No notification metadata is collected.
6 · Photos
If you attach a photo to a horse passport or a care entry, the photo is stored with your other app data, locally and in your iCloud. It is never uploaded to BarnMate.
7 · Third-party services
BarnMate uses only native Apple frameworks:
No third-party SDK, no ad network, no audience-measurement tool is integrated into the app.
8 · Children
BarnMate is not specifically directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data concerning them. The app can be used by underage riders under the responsibility of their legal guardians, without any data being transmitted to us.
9 · Your rights
The GDPR gives you a right of access, rectification, erasure and portability over your personal data. Because BarnMate holds none of your data, these rights are exercised directly from your device:
Access and rectify: all your data can be viewed and edited in the app.
Erase: delete a record in the app, or uninstall the app and clear BarnMate data from Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage.
Portability: the app lets you export your session and billing records in CSV format.
Remove a share: revoke a participant's access at any time from the share-management screen.
10 · Data retention
Your data is kept for as long as you keep it on your device and in your iCloud. We have no retention period to apply, since we hold no copy of it. Any deletion you make is permanent, both from our point of view and yours.
11 · International transfers
BarnMate performs no data transfer. The hosting and location of your iCloud content are handled by Apple and your account, under Apple's terms and privacy policy.
12 · Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the last-updated date shown at the top of the page will be modified. Any substantial change will be flagged in the app's release notes.
13 · Contact
